Convention District
Downtown Jackson continues to grow. Office occupancy exceeds 90%. Over 30 restaurants and bars call downtown home. With 4 museums and more than 10 historic sites, Downtown Jackson is livelier than ever. Now, Jackson is constructing the Convention District to provide superior meeting and technology space.
The Convention District is a multiple phase project. Phase I is the 74,000 square-foot Mississippi TelCom Center which was completed in the fall of 2005. The facility provides nearly 21,000 square feet of meeting space. The TelCom Center features 5,760 square feet of gallery space for dining and other assembly events, a 382-seat multimedia theater/ training lab, and board room suites with private reception area and conference rooms. The facility also includes seven meeting rooms capable of hosting 50-800 people that can be partitioned into classrooms or training rooms.
Phase II of the Convention District is the construction of the Capitol City Convention Center which broke ground in the summer of 2006 and will be completed in early 2009. Once completed, the 264,500 square-foot Capitol City Convention Center will connect to the Mississippi TelCom Center and will provide over 110,000 square feet of luxurious exhibition and meeting space, coupled with the latest in conferencing technology.
The highlights of the Convention Center includes 90,000 square feet of divisible space on the ground floor as well as 33,000 square feet of lobbies, concourse and registration area.
The second floor features 10,000 square feet of divisible meeting/ breakout rooms overlooking the first floor lobby with an 8,000 square-foot lobby and pre-function area.
The Convention District will provide all the technology and meeting space required by any group, organization, or association and is steps away from Downtown entertainment.
